---------------------------------------------------- Dear sir, In writing this amateur radio operator tender our sincere compliments and express our heartiest thanks and appreciation for the close cooperation and generous patronage you always render us.
We are using LoTW with no charge. Recently some DXpedition team are requested to us if we would like to use LoTW. They sent invoice of 5$ to us.hi I think they had bad manner.
How do you think about on this matter.
I would appreciate it if you could inform me your consideration.
While we may agree that a free QSL (LoTW or Mail) is an expected and common courtesy, some stations see this as a way to help fund their hobby or DXpeditions.
Regarding QSLing, we have a choice:
- Don’t work the station if we know they are imposing a QSLing fee; - work them but don’t expect a card (and then work several others from the same country when activated who QSL freely); - or if the country is rare and needed for your DXCC, weight the costs and respond in whatever fashion best meets your needs and interests for confirmation.
Some stations claim they use LoTW and are charging for QSL upload to LoTW, but in several cases when we check the latest uploads of that station at https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/act?awg_id=&ac_acct= we find they are not actively using, or are not using LoTW.
Good luck on the bands…
73,
Bart Jahnke, W9JJ Radiosport and Regulatory Information Manager
